Although the Bjorg brand originated in France in 1988, this specific product is manufactured entirely in Italy, often produced by Abafoods S.r.l., a specialist in plant-based drinks located in Badia Polesine. The almonds used in the recipe are also sourced from Italian groves, ensuring a high-quality local supply chain.

The brand has undergone significant ownership transitions over the decades. Founded by Bjorg et Compagnie (formerly Distriborg) near Lyon, it was later acquired by the Dutch multinational Royal Wessanen. In recent years, the parent company was taken private by a consortium led by PAI Partners and Charles Jobson, subsequently rebranding as Ecotone in 2020.
