Sklavenitis Basmati Rice

Sklavenitis Basmati Rice is a private-label product offered by the Greek supermarket giant Sklavenitis. The rice itself is a variety of long-grain aromatic rice that is geographically exclusive to the Indian subcontinent. It is primarily cultivated and sourced from India and Pakistan, which account for the vast majority of the global basmati trade.

As a private-label brand, the product is packaged and distributed under the Sklavenitis name, a company with deep roots in Greek retail history. The brand was founded in 1954 in Athens and has since grown to become the largest retail group in Greece. While the raw material (the rice) is imported from Southeast Asia, the final branding and retail distribution are managed by the Greek-owned parent company, Hellenic Hypermarkets Sklavenitis S.A.
