Mills Majones is an iconic Norwegian food product that has been a staple in households since its launch in 1951. Originally introduced at a time when food rationing was still in effect, it quickly gained popularity for its rich and creamy texture. The brand is deeply rooted in Norwegian history, dating back to 1885 when K.K. Heje founded the Agra Margarine Factory in the Grünerløkka district of Oslo.
Today, the product is primarily manufactured at Mills AS's modern production facilities in Fredrikstad and Drammen, Norway. While the company's head office remains at its original historical location in Oslo, the production of their famous mayonnaise and other condiments has been moved to these specialized plants to meet high demand.
Ownership of the brand remains firmly in Norwegian hands. Mills AS is part of the Agra Group, a family-owned company led by the Heje family. For a period, Unilever held a stake in the business, but these shares were repurchased in 2015, returning the company to 100% Norwegian family ownership. The brand is now managed as a 'house of brands' that emphasizes sustainable production and traditional Norwegian quality.
