Brawl Stars mobile game

Brawl Stars is a popular mobile multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) and hero shooter game. The game was developed and published by Supercell, a prominent Finnish video game company known for other major titles like Clash of Clans and Clash Royale. Originally released in a limited beta in 2017, it launched globally in December 2018 and has since become one of the most successful mobile franchises in the world, surpassing billions in revenue.

While the brand and the technical development of the software are rooted in Helsinki, Finland, the brand's ownership transitioned significantly in 2016 when the Chinese technology giant Tencent acquired a majority stake in Supercell. As of 2026, Tencent remains the ultimate owner, holding a controlling interest of over 80%. Despite this ownership, Supercell continues to operate with a high degree of independence from its headquarters in Helsinki, maintaining its unique 'cell' based organizational structure which allows small, autonomous teams to lead game development and innovation.
