Aurora is one of the most well-known traditional flour and milling brands in Germany. The 'Sonnenstern' line, particularly this soft wheat semolina (Weichweizen Grieß), is a staple in German kitchens for making desserts like semolina pudding or soup inserts.
The brand's history is deeply rooted in Hamburg, where the Aurora mill (Aurora Mühle) was established in 1897 by Georg Plange. For over a century, it has been a symbol of high-quality grain processing in Northern Germany.
Today, the brand is managed by Aurora Mühlen GmbH, a subsidiary of GoodMills Deutschland GmbH. The ultimate parent company is the Austrian-based GoodMills Group, which is Europe's largest milling corporation. The production for the German market is primarily carried out at local German mill sites, notably in Hamburg.
