Audeze is a premier American audio technology company renowned for its high-performance planar magnetic headphones and gaming headsets. Founded in 2008 in a garage in Orange County, California, the brand's identity was inspired by the film '2001: A Space Odyssey.' The company quickly distinguished itself by adapting advanced NASA materials into audio diaphragms, leading to a renaissance in planar magnetic driver technology. Today, Audeze is a leading name for audiophiles, professional sound engineers, and gamers alike.
In August 2023, Audeze was acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), the division responsible for PlayStation. Despite the acquisition, Audeze continues to operate independently as a subsidiary, maintaining its own product development and manufacturing facility in Santa Ana, California. This facility is responsible for the design and production of its flagship planar magnetic and electrostatic drivers, as well as the hand-assembly of its premium LCD and MM series. While the high-end audiophile lines are manufactured in the U.S., higher-volume consumer products like certain gaming headsets are often assembled in China using a mix of domestic and international components.
