The brand 'Bavaria blu' was famously launched in 1972 and became a pioneer in combining white mold on the exterior with blue mold veins on the interior, specifically designed to offer a creamier and milder alternative to traditional sharp blue cheeses.

The product is manufactured in Upper Bavaria, Germany, primarily at the company's production sites in Waging am See and Bad Aibling. It utilizes fresh Alpine milk sourced from the local region, maintaining a strong connection to regional agriculture.

Bergader remains a 100% family-owned enterprise. Founded in 1902 by Basil Weixler, it has been passed down through generations and is currently led by the founder's great-grandson, Felix Kress. The company is structured under RL Anlagen GmbH for financial reporting but retains its independent family identity and operation.
