Karvan Cévitam is an iconic Dutch brand established in 1948, though its roots trace back to the late 19th-century wine and fruit juice business of Jan Zwaardemaker in Amsterdam. The brand's name is a creative contraction of 'caravan of vitamin C', reflecting its post-war marketing as a health-conscious product for children. Historically, the syrup was produced in a dedicated factory in Maarssen, Netherlands, chosen for its strategic logistics near the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal. Today, Karvan Cévitam remains a market leader in the Dutch lemonade syrup category.

Ownership of the brand has transitioned through several major food conglomerates. It was acquired by the Dutch concern CSM NV in 1980 and later merged into its De Ruijter division. In 2000, the brand entered American ownership when the H.J. Heinz Company purchased CSM's food division. Following the 2015 merger of Kraft and Heinz, the brand is currently part of the global portfolio of The Kraft Heinz Company. As of 2026, the brand continues to be managed under the Kraft Heinz umbrella, maintaining its strong Dutch identity and production base within the Netherlands.
