De Zaanse Hoeve is a prominent private-label dairy brand exclusive to Albert Heijn, the largest supermarket chain in the Netherlands. The brand was established by Albert Heijn to offer a high-quality yet budget-friendly range of dairy products, including milk, buttermilk, yogurt, and cheese. Its name and windmill logo evoke the traditional Dutch landscape, specifically the Zaan region, which is historically significant for its food production and where Albert Heijn's own origins lie.

While the brand is owned by the retailer, the physical production is carried out by major Dutch dairy processors. Specifically, much of the liquid dairy and cheese for De Zaanse Hoeve is supplied by Royal A-ware and Zuivelcoöperatie DeltaMilk. These companies work closely with Dutch dairy farmers through programs like 'Beter voor Koe, Natuur & Boer' to ensure sustainability and animal welfare standards. The buttermilk shown in the image is a classic Dutch staple, produced from 100% Dutch meadow milk (weidemelk).

As a private label, the brand is under the ultimate ownership of Ahold Delhaize, a global retail leader formed from the 2016 merger of the Dutch Ahold and Belgian Delhaize Group. The company remains headquartered in Zaandam, Netherlands, maintaining its strong historical link to the region that inspired the brand's name.
