Loctite is a globally recognized American brand originally founded in 1953 in Hartford, Connecticut. It was established by Vernon K. Krieble and his son Robert Krieble through their company, American Sealants, which was later renamed the Loctite Corporation. The brand gained prominence for its pioneering anaerobic technology, which allows adhesives to cure in the absence of oxygen, making it a standard for threadlocking and industrial sealing.

In 1997, the Loctite Corporation was acquired by the German multinational Henkel AG & Co. KGaA. Under Henkel's ownership, Loctite has expanded its presence into over 80 countries, serving both industrial and consumer markets. While its roots are in the United States, manufacturing now occurs in various locations globally, including the US, Ireland, and several other facilities operated by Henkel to meet regional demand.
