Haribo is a global leader in the gummy candy industry, famous for inventing the gummy bear in 1922. The brand was established in 1920 by Hans Riegel Sr. in Bonn, Germany, and its name is an acronym derived from the founder's name and location: HAns RIegel BOnn.

From its humble beginnings in a backyard laundry kitchen with a sack of sugar and a copper pot, Haribo has grown into an international powerhouse. Today, the company remains a family-owned business, maintaining a strong focus on its core product category of fruit gums and licorice. It is currently managed by the third generation of the Riegel family.

The company operates 16 production facilities across 10 different countries, including major sites in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and the United States (specifically in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin).
