MS cigarette

MS (standing for Messis Summa, Latin for 'best harvest') is an iconic Italian cigarette brand that was introduced in 1969. It was originally created by the Ente Tabacchi Italiani (ETI) and owned by the Italian State Monopoly. The brand became a cultural symbol in Italy during the 1970s and 1980s, frequently appearing in Italian cinema and gaining status as the nation's most popular cigarette.

In 2004, following the privatization of ETI, the brand was acquired by British American Tobacco (BAT). While MS has deep historical roots in Italian manufacturing, notably at the Manifattura Tabacchi plants in Florence and Rovereto, production has largely shifted in recent years. Today, while it remains a flagship brand for the Italian market, the manufacturing is primarily conducted at BAT's large-scale facilities in Romania to serve the European market.

The brand is currently managed by BAT Italia, a subsidiary of the global British American Tobacco group. It remains one of the most recognizable tobacco brands in Southern Europe, maintaining its legacy through various product line extensions and a continued association with Italian heritage.
