Bregott is a iconic Swedish dairy spread produced by Arla Foods. It was first launched in 1969/1971 to solve the problem of butter being too hard to spread directly from the refrigerator. By blending traditional butter (made from Swedish cream) with rapeseed oil, the creators produced a product that maintains a rich buttery taste while remaining soft at low temperatures.
The product is manufactured at Arla's dairy facility in Götene, Sweden, using 100% Swedish cream sourced from Arla-affiliated farms. Ownership of the brand lies with Arla Foods amba, a large international dairy cooperative owned by thousands of dairy farmers across several European countries, including Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and the UK. Its headquarters are located in Aarhus, Denmark.
