In the modern era, while 'mælk' is a generic term, the infrastructure behind most Danish milk products is owned by the Arla Foods cooperative. By 2025/2026, Arla Foods has solidified its position as a global dairy leader, recently entering a significant merger with the German DMK Group to become the largest dairy cooperative in Europe, headquartered in Viby, Denmark.
