Established in 1789 by Michele Garofalo through a royal decree, the brand has built a global reputation for premium quality. Historically, the company was managed by the Garofalo family for centuries before being acquired by the Menna family in the late 20th century. In 2014, a significant shift in ownership occurred when Ebro Foods, a Spanish multinational food group, acquired a 52% majority stake in Pastificio Lucio Garofalo S.p.A. Despite the Spanish majority ownership, the production remains strictly tied to its heritage site in Gragnano, Italy, ensuring the brand retains its PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) status and authentic Italian identity.
