Converse footwear

Converse is an iconic American lifestyle brand primarily known for its athletic shoes, most notably the Chuck Taylor All Star. Founded in 1908 by Marquis Mills Converse, the brand initially specialized in rubber-soled winterized shoes. It rose to prominence in the mid-20th century as a staple of basketball footwear. Following financial difficulties in the late 20th century, the company filed for bankruptcy and was subsequently acquired by Nike, Inc. in 2003.

While the brand was born and flourished in the United States, manufacturing moved entirely overseas in 2001. Today, Converse products are primarily manufactured in Asian countries, including Vietnam, Indonesia, China, and India. Vietnam serves as a major hub for classic canvas models, while Indonesian facilities often handle more complex stitched and multi-material designs. The brand remains a wholly owned subsidiary of Nike, operating out of its specialized headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, which opened in 2015 to serve as a creative and administrative hub.
