Timberland is a global lifestyle brand founded in 1952 by Nathan Swartz in Abington, Massachusetts. Originally known as the Abington Shoe Company, the brand became famous for introducing the 'Timberland' waterproof leather boot in 1973, which was so successful that the company renamed itself after the product in 1978.
Today, Timberland is a subsidiary of VF Corporation, an American global apparel and footwear company. While its roots and design headquarters remain in the United States (specifically Stratham, New Hampshire), the actual manufacturing of its products, including the iconic 6-inch premium boot, is distributed across a global supply chain with key facilities in the Dominican Republic, Vietnam, and China.
