Maui Jim Sunglasses

Maui Jim started in 1980 as a small company selling sunglasses on Ka'anapali Beach in Lahaina, Maui. The brand was developed out of a necessity for eyewear that could handle the intense Hawaiian sun and glare while enhancing the brilliant colors of the island landscape.

Over the decades, Maui Jim grew into a global powerhouse known for its patented PolarizedPlus2® lens technology. For a long time, it remained one of the largest independently owned eyewear companies in the world. However, in late 2022, the brand was acquired by the French luxury group Kering, specifically joining its Kering Eyewear division.

While the brand maintains its creative roots and spiritual home in Peoria, Illinois, and Lahaina, Hawaii, the manufacturing of its frames and lenses is primarily handled in high-end facilities in Italy and Japan to ensure premium luxury standards.
