Fritz-Kola was founded in 2003 by two childhood friends, Mirco Wolf Wiegert and Lorenz Hampl, in a student dormitory in Hamburg, Germany. Their goal was to create a superior cola with a higher caffeine content and less sweetness compared to major global brands. The brand is well-known for its distinctive minimalist black-and-white aesthetic and its commitment to using glass bottles to support sustainability.
While the company has expanded its product range to include lemonades and spritzers, it remains deeply rooted in its German heritage. Manufacturing is decentralized throughout Germany to minimize transport distances, utilizing various regional contract bottling partners. Ownership remains independent, largely held by the original founder Mirco Wolf Wiegert, alongside a small group of investors, ensuring the brand maintains its 'indie' status against large beverage conglomerates.
