Lexus is the luxury vehicle division of the Japanese automaker Toyota. The brand was created in the late 1980s as a way for Toyota to compete in the premium automotive segment globally, specifically targeting the North American market. Following the successful launch of the LS 400 flagship sedan in 1989, Lexus grew into a global powerhouse known for precision engineering, reliability, and superior customer service.

While the majority of Lexus production remains concentrated in Japan—notably at the Tahara and Kyūshū plants—the brand has expanded its manufacturing footprint to meet regional demand. This includes the production of RX models in Cambridge, Ontario (Canada) and the ES series in Georgetown, Kentucky (USA). Despite this international manufacturing presence, the brand identity and engineering standards remain deeply rooted in Japanese craftsmanship, often referred to as Takumi.

Today, Lexus remains a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation. It operates as a distinct premium brand within the Toyota family, benefiting from the parent company's massive research and development resources while maintaining its own unique design language and dealership networks across the globe.
