SEAT S.A. (Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo) is Spain's leading passenger car manufacturer. Founded in 1950 by the National Institute of Industry, it was created to motorize post-war Spain and quickly became a symbol of national industrial identity. Initially, the brand produced vehicles under license from Fiat, but it transitioned to independent development in the 1980s before forming a strategic alliance with the German automotive giant Volkswagen Group.

Today, SEAT is a key member of the Volkswagen Group's 'Brand Group Core.' While the brand is deeply rooted in Spanish heritage and maintains its headquarters and primary manufacturing facility in Martorell, Spain, its production footprint is international. Many SEAT models are produced in Spanish plants, while others are manufactured in various Volkswagen Group facilities across Europe, including the Czech Republic, Germany, and Portugal, to optimize shared platforms and resources.

In recent years, the company has repositioned itself to focus heavily on its high-performance and electric-centric brand, CUPRA. Ownership remains strictly under the Volkswagen AG umbrella, which manages the brand's global distribution, engineering synergies, and long-term electrification strategy.
