Ültje is a premier German snack brand with a heritage dating back to 1867, when Alfred Russell registered the company in Emden as an import and wholesale business. The brand as it is known today emerged in 1949, when the company pioneered the roasting and sale of peanuts in the German market. Over the following decades, Ültje became synonymous with nut snacks in the DACH region, even gaining cultural icon status through its 1990s advertising featuring the 'Ültje-Mann'.

Manufacturing is centered in Germany, with major production facilities located in Schwerte and Olsberg. While the industrial processing, roasting, and packaging occur in Germany, the raw ingredients like peanuts and cashews are sourced globally from regions such as South America and Asia. Ownership has shifted through several hands, including the Oetker Group and Felix GmbH, before the company helped form 'The Nut Company' in 2000.

Since 2008, the brand has been a flagship part of the Intersnack Group, a leading European snack manufacturer. Intersnack is privately owned by the Pfeifer & Langen families, who are also major players in the European sugar industry. Today, Ültje continues to lead the nut segment across multiple European markets under this robust corporate structure.
