El Águila Especial beer

El Águila is a historic Spanish beer brand founded in Madrid in 1900 by Augusto Comas y Blanco. For much of the 20th century, it was one of Spain's leading breweries. In the 1980s, the Dutch brewing giant Heineken N.V. began acquiring shares, eventually taking full control and merging it into its Spanish operations.

Today, El Águila is produced by Heineken España, primarily at their facilities in Seville, Madrid, Valencia, and Jaén. While the brand was once phased out in favor of Amstel, it was successfully relaunched in 2019, returning to its original 1900-inspired recipe and branding. Heineken N.V., headquartered in Amsterdam, remains the ultimate owner of the brand.
