Żywiec is one of the most iconic and recognizable beer brands in Poland. The brand originated in the town of Żywiec in 1856, where the brewery was founded by Archduke Albrecht Friedrich von Österreich. Over the decades, it has become synonymous with Polish brewing tradition, often recognized by its distinctive logo featuring a dancing Krakow couple.
Today, the brand is produced primarily at the Żywiec Brewery in Poland. While it remains a quintessentially Polish brand in terms of its heritage and recipe, it is currently owned by the Heineken Group, one of the largest brewing conglomerates in the world. This ownership has allowed Żywiec to expand its reach globally, being exported to numerous international markets while maintaining its core production facilities in the Silesian region of Poland.
