Orbea is a prestigious Spanish bicycle manufacturer rooted in the Basque Country. Originally founded as a rifle and gun manufacturer in 1840, the company pivoted to bicycle production in 1930. A unique aspect of the brand is its corporate structure; it became a cooperative in 1969 after facing financial difficulties, joining the Mondragon Corporation, which is one of the world's largest worker-owned cooperatives.

While Orbea designs and assembles its high-end bikes at its headquarters in Mallabia, Spain, it utilizes a globalized supply chain. Carbon frames are largely manufactured in specialized facilities in Asia (China and Taiwan) to the brand's specifications, while painting and final assembly are often completed in Spain or Portugal to ensure high quality and customization for the European and global markets.
