Argus Especial beer

Argus is a private-label beer brand belonging to the German supermarket giant Lidl. While the brand itself was created by Lidl to provide a competitive house-label option across its European markets, the manufacturing of the 'Especial' variant shown here is typically handled by local breweries within the country of sale. In Spain, for example, it has historically been produced by Font Salem (part of the Damm Group).

As a private label, Argus does not have a standalone corporate history outside of Lidl’s distribution network. The brand is managed centrally by the Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG. The 'Especial' variety is positioned as a higher-quality lager compared to their standard range, featuring a slightly higher alcohol content of 5.6%. Ownership remains firmly with the Schwarz Group, ensuring that the brand remains an exclusive retail product across their global chain of stores.
