Norrøna is a premier Norwegian outdoor brand founded in 1929 by Jørgen Jørgensen. Originally established to create durable outdoor equipment for the harsh Norwegian climate, it has evolved into a global leader in high-end technical outerwear, particularly known for its iconic Lofoten collection and for being the first European company to use Gore-Tex in 1977.

While the brand's design and testing take place at its headquarters in Lysaker, Norway, manufacturing is distributed globally to specialized facilities. Production primarily occurs in countries such as China, Vietnam, and Lithuania, though the company maintains a high degree of transparency regarding its supply chain. Since 2024, Norrøna has been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation to ensure ethical labor standards across these international sites.

The company remains a family-owned enterprise, currently led by the fourth generation of the Jørgensen family. This independent ownership has allowed the brand to focus heavily on sustainability, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2029 and maintaining a robust in-house repair service to extend the lifecycle of its products.
