Prinzen Rolle biscuits

Prinzen Rolle is an iconic European sandwich biscuit, famous for its two round cocoa-flavored biscuits held together by a cocoa cream center. The brand's origin dates back to 1870 in Belgium, where Edouard de Beukelaer invented the double biscuit and named it 'Le Petit Prince' (The Little Prince) in honor of the Belgian crown prince.

Today, the brand is the crown jewel of Griesson - de Beukelaer, a major independent German family enterprise. The modern iteration of the product and its mass-market success are deeply rooted in Germany, where production was established in Kempen in 1955. Ownership is held by the Gries family (via the Gottlieb Anton Foundation) and partner Andreas Land, making it one of the few leading European snack brands to remain independent of global food conglomerates like Mondelēz or Nestlé.

Manufacturing is concentrated in Germany at high-capacity facilities in Kahla (Thuringia) and Polch (Rhineland-Palatinate), following the closure of the original Kempen plant in 2020. The brand continues to be a staple across Europe, particularly in Germany and France.
