In 1989, the brand was acquired by the American multinational PepsiCo, which integrated it into its global Frito-Lay snack division. While the brand is identical in branding and logo design to Lay's found in other parts of the world, it retains the 'Walkers' name in the UK and Ireland as a tribute to its local heritage. Today, the primary production facility in Leicester remains one of the largest crisp-making factories in the world, ensuring the brand maintains its status as the UK's favorite crisp.
