Founded in 1920 by Murdock Fisher, the brand originally established its roots in St. Paul, Minnesota, where it began by providing high-quality salted nuts to local residents. Over the decades, it evolved from a local specialty shop into a major national player in the snack and baking nut categories.

Today, Fisher nuts are primarily manufactured in the United States, utilizing large-scale facilities to process a variety of walnuts, pecans, almonds, and peanuts. The brand transitioned from its family-owned beginnings to be a part of major corporate portfolios. Since 1995, the brand has been a flagship product for John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. (JBSS), an industry leader in the nut processing business headquartered in Elgin, Illinois.
