HAK Linzen (Lentils)

HAK is one of the most iconic vegetable and legume brands in the Netherlands. Originally founded in Giessen in 1952 by the Hak family, the brand is deeply rooted in Dutch agricultural tradition. The lentils shown in the image are part of their modern 'sta-zak' (stand-up pouch) or small carton range, which focuses on convenience and natural ingredients.

Most HAK products are manufactured and processed in the Netherlands, specifically at their primary production facility in Giessen, North Brabant. The brand prides itself on sourcing ingredients from within a 125-kilometer radius of their factory whenever possible.

In terms of ownership, HAK has seen several transitions. Historically a family business, it was acquired by various investment firms and groups over the years. As of current records moving into the mid-2020s, the brand is owned by KDV Group, a major international food manufacturer based in Russia, which acquired HAK’s parent company, Neerlands Glorie, in 2021. Despite the change in ultimate ownership, the brand continues to operate with its local Dutch identity and management.
