Skoda automobiles

Founded in 1895 as Laurin & Klement, Skoda is one of the world's oldest automobile manufacturers. Based in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic, the company transitioned from bicycles to motorcycles and eventually to cars. In 1925, it was acquired by the industrial conglomerate Skoda Works and rebranded.

Starting in 1991, the company underwent a gradual privatization process following the fall of communism, leading to a complete acquisition by the Volkswagen Group. Today, Skoda is a key volume brand within the Volkswagen portfolio, sharing platforms and technology with other group brands while maintaining a distinct 'Simply Clever' design philosophy. While its heart remains in the Czech Republic, Skoda operates a global manufacturing network to serve markets across Europe and Asia.
