La Recoleta Cemetery is a world-renowned landmark located in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Established in 1822 on the grounds of a colonial-era garden originally belonging to the Convent of the Monks of the Order of the Recoletos, it serves as the final resting place for many of Argentina's most influential historical figures.
The site is celebrated for its incredible architectural diversity, featuring a vast collection of mausoleums and statues that range from Art Deco and Neoclassical to Baroque styles. In 1946, it was declared a National Historical Museum. Managed today by the Ministry of Transit and Public Works of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, it remains one of the city's most visited cultural sites, famous for housing the tomb of Eva Perón.
