SheaMoisture is a globally recognized personal care brand specializing in hair care, skin care, and body products tailored for various textures and needs, particularly within the curly and natural hair community. The brand was founded in 1991 by Richelieu Dennis and Nyema Tubman in Harlem, New York, inspired by the heritage of Dennis's grandmother, Sophie Tucker, who sold shea butter and homemade African Black Soap in Sierra Leone starting in 1912.

In 2017, the brand's parent company, Sundial Brands, was acquired by the British-Dutch multinational Unilever. This acquisition allowed the brand to scale its distribution worldwide while maintaining its core commitment to fair trade and community-commerce initiatives. Today, while the brand operates as a subsidiary of the Unilever conglomerate, it continues to formulate products using natural ingredients often sourced from the African continent, with primary manufacturing operations located in the USA.
