Fanø Skibsrom Havmanden

Fanø Skibsrom is a premium spiced rum brand deeply rooted in the maritime history of Fanø, a small island on the west coast of Denmark. The brand was founded by Lars Jensen Schou, who sought to revive the tradition of spiced spirits that sailors brought back to the island in the 18th and 19th centuries.

While the base rum is typically sourced from Jamaica, the final product is distinctively Danish. The rum is shipped to Fanø where it undergoes a specialized refinement process. It is infused and flavored with local ingredients such as organic sea buckthorn and heather honey from Fanø, and it is aged in oak barrels previously used for Vadehavsbryggeriet's beer, giving it a unique local character.

The brand remains under private Danish ownership through the company Fanø Skibsrom ApS. It operates as a small-scale craft distillery and blender, focusing on high-quality production that celebrates West Jutland heritage and sustainable local sourcing.
