Range Rover is a premier line of luxury four-wheel-drive sport utility vehicles manufactured by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). Originally launched by British Leyland in 1970, the brand has become a global icon of British engineering and luxury off-road capability.
Over the decades, ownership of the Land Rover brand transitioned through several major automotive giants, including BMW and the Ford Motor Company. In 2008, Ford sold Jaguar Land Rover to Tata Motors, an Indian multinational automotive manufacturer. Under Tata's management, Range Rover has expanded its lineup significantly.
While the historic home of Range Rover production is the Solihull plant in the United Kingdom, the brand has expanded its manufacturing footprint to include facilities in Slovakia and a joint venture in China to meet global demand.
