Alcon is a global leader in eye care, specializing in surgical equipment and vision care products such as contact lenses and ocular health solutions. Founded in 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas, by pharmacists Robert Alexander and William Conner, the brand began as a small ophthalmic pharmacy.

Over decades, Alcon expanded its reach through innovation and strategic acquisitions. While originally an American startup, it underwent significant corporate shifts, notably being acquired by Nestlé in 1977 and later by the Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis in 2011. In April 2019, Alcon was spun off from Novartis to become an independent, publicly traded company.
