Sanex is a prominent personal care brand specialized in products for healthy skin. Originally launched in 1984 by the Spanish company Cruz Verde (specifically by its subsidiary Laboratorios Legrain), it was the first brand to introduce a soap-free shower gel for the mass market. The brand was later acquired by Sara Lee Corporation and subsequently sold to Unilever in 2009. However, due to European antitrust regulations, Unilever was required to divest Sanex in several European countries, leading to its acquisition by the American multinational Colgate-Palmolive in 2011. Today, Sanex products, including deodorants, shower gels, and lotions, are manufactured in various European locations, including Italy and Greece, to serve different markets. Its ownership remains under Colgate-Palmolive, a global leader in consumer products headquartered in New York.
