The brand's origin is rooted in the Kibbutz Lohamei HaGeta'ot in Israel, where it was founded as Tivall. This company pioneered meat substitutes and became a household name across Europe for its accessible plant-based options like schnitzels, nuggets, and falafel.

In 2017, the global food giant Nestlé completed its full acquisition of Tivall, rebranding the product line to Garden Gourmet in many European markets. Today, the brand is part of Nestlé's Strategic Business Unit for food.
