The brand name 'Kas' is derived from the 'K' of the Knörr surname joined with the 'as' from the word 'gaseosas' (sodas).

Throughout the late 20th century, Kas expanded its footprint across Mediterranean markets and Latin America. In 1991, the brand was acquired by PepsiCo, which integrated it into its global beverage portfolio.
