Nescafé is a world-renowned coffee brand with a history rooted in both Switzerland and Brazil. The brand was developed by Nestlé in the 1930s as a solution to Brazil's massive coffee surplus following the Wall Street Crash of 1929. After several years of research led by chemist Max Morgenthaler, the first soluble coffee powder that could successfully retain the bean's natural aroma was launched in Switzerland on April 1, 1938.

During World War II, Nescafé became a staple in the rations of American soldiers, which solidified its global reputation and led to its expansion into markets across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Today, the brand is manufactured in dozens of factories located in numerous countries, including Switzerland, Mexico, the Philippines, and Vietnam, to meet the demand of consumers in over 180 countries.

Nescafé remains under the ownership of Nestlé, the world's largest food and beverage company. As of 2026, Nestlé continues to prioritize Nescafé as one of its core growth drivers, focusing on sustainable sourcing through the Nescafé Plan and expanding its portfolio into premium categories and ready-to-drink options to appeal to modern consumption habits.
