HMD Global is a Finnish mobile phone manufacturer that serves as the exclusive licensee for the Nokia brand on mobile phones and tablets. Established in 2016 and headquartered in Espoo, Finland, the company was formed after Microsoft Mobile exited the hardware business, allowing former Nokia executives to revive the brand's presence in the global smartphone market.

While the brand's design and research efforts are rooted in Finland, HMD Global operates a 'fabless' model, meaning it does not own its own factories. Manufacturing is primarily outsourced to third-party partners like Foxconn (FIH Mobile) in China, Vietnam, and India. This allows HMD to maintain a global supply chain while focusing on product development and software integration.

HMD Global is a private company with various investors, including FIH Mobile and Nokia Corporation. Although Nokia Corporation receives royalties for the use of its brand and patents, HMD Global remains the primary entity responsible for the marketing and distribution of HMD and Nokia-branded mobile hardware worldwide. In recent years, the company has transitioned from being a pure Nokia licensee to launching its own HMD-branded devices.
