Initially produced using a sodium bicarbonate-based formula, it gained global recognition for its effectiveness in treating gingivitis and promoting oral hygiene.

Over the decades, the brand's ownership shifted through various pharmaceutical mergers. It became a core part of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Consumer Healthcare. In July 2022, GSK spun off its consumer healthcare division into a new independent company named Haleon. Today, Parodontax is one of Haleon's flagship oral care brands marketed worldwide. While the brand has German roots, its manufacturing is decentralized, with a major European production facility located in Slovakia, supplying many European markets including Germany and the UK.
