Gorenje is a major European manufacturer of household appliances, known for its focus on design and technological innovation. The brand originated in a small village called Gorenje in the mid-20th century, starting as an agricultural machinery manufacturer before transitioning to kitchen stoves and household goods. Over the decades, it expanded its portfolio to include a full range of large appliances like washing machines, refrigerators, and ovens.

In 2018, the company underwent a significant shift in ownership when it was acquired by the Chinese electronics giant Hisense. While its historical roots remain deeply tied to Slovenia, where a major part of its research and production still takes place, it now operates within a global manufacturing network. This acquisition has allowed Gorenje to leverage Hisense's technological scale while maintaining its distinct European identity and design language.
