Peroni is an iconic Italian beer brand that has become a global symbol of 'Made in Italy' style and craftsmanship. Founded in Vigevano in 1846 by Francesco Peroni, the brand moved its headquarters to Rome in 1864, where it established itself as the leading beer in the Italian market. The brand is best known for its premium Nastro Azzurro lager, which was launched in 1963 and named after the blue ribbon won by the Italian ocean liner SS Rex.
While the brand maintains deep roots in Italy with major production facilities in Rome, Bari, and Padova, its ownership has transitioned through several international conglomerates. After being acquired by SABMiller in 2003, the brand was later sold to the Japanese beverage giant Asahi Group Holdings in 2016 as part of a divestment required for the AB InBev and SABMiller merger. Today, Peroni continues to use high-quality Italian ingredients, such as Nostrano dell'Isola maize, to maintain its authentic Mediterranean character while being distributed to over 70 countries worldwide.
