Metz consumer electronics

Metz is a historic German brand with a long-standing reputation in the consumer electronics industry, particularly known for its high-quality televisions and professional camera flash units. Founded in 1938 by Paul Metz in Zirndorf, Germany, the company became a synonym for German engineering excellence in the post-war era.

Following corporate restructuring, the brand is currently split between two different owners. The TV division (Metz Consumer Electronics GmbH) was acquired by the Chinese electronics giant Skyworth in 2015. While some premium high-end televisions continue to be developed and manufactured in Germany (Metz Classic), many other models are produced internationally. The photography division (Metz Mecatech), famous for its flash units, went through separate ownership cycles but remains deeply rooted in German technology heritage.
