Pukka Herbs was founded in 2001 by Sebastian Pole and Tim Westwell in Bristol, United Kingdom. The brand was built on the principles of Ayurveda and organic herbalism, with the name 'Pukka' meaning 'authentic' or 'genuine' in Hindi. Since its inception, the company has focused on ethically sourced, organic ingredients to create its wide range of herbal infusions.
In 2017, the brand was acquired by the consumer goods giant Unilever. However, as of 2022, Pukka Herbs is part of Lipton Teas and Infusions (formerly known as ekaterra), which was sold by Unilever to CVC Capital Partners. The brand continues to maintain its headquarters in the UK and sources its herbs from over 50 countries worldwide, while the final blending and packaging primarily take place in the United Kingdom to ensure high-quality standards and ethical compliance.
