Osram is a globally recognized leader in the lighting industry, with a heritage dating back over a century. Originally established in Germany in 1919 through the merger of the lighting businesses of Siemens & Halske, AEG, and Auergesellschaft, the brand became a pioneer in the development of incandescent and later halogen and LED technologies.
In recent years, the company has undergone significant corporate shifts. After being spun off from Siemens in 2013, Osram was eventually acquired by ams AG, an Austrian electronics company, in 2020. This merger formed ams OSRAM, a global powerhouse focused on optical solutions, sensors, and high-performance LEDs.
Manufacturing for Osram products occurs worldwide to support its global supply chain. Key production facilities are located in Germany, Malaysia, and China. While the high-tech semiconductor and LED chip production often takes place in Regensburg, Germany, and Kulim, Malaysia, general assembly and consumer lighting products are often manufactured in various international hubs.
