Roon is a specialized music management and streaming platform designed for audiophiles, offering high-resolution audio support and extensive metadata integration. Originally developed by the team behind the Sooloos music server system, Roon was launched as a standalone brand in 2015. The software serves as a central hub for digital music collections, integrating local files with streaming services like Tidal and Qobuz.

In November 2023, Roon Labs was acquired by the South Korean multinational Samsung Electronics through its subsidiary Harman International. This acquisition positioned Roon within a larger portfolio of legendary audio brands. While the brand originated as an independent American software developer, it now operates under the umbrella of one of the world's largest consumer electronics conglomerates, ensuring long-term development and integration with diverse hardware ecosystems.
