Sternquell is a traditional German beer brand with a long history rooted in Plauen, Saxony. Founded in 1857 as the 'Aktienbrauerei zu Plauen', it has remained a staple of the Vogtland region for over 160 years. The brewery is famous for its Pilsner and remains a symbol of local brewing craftsmanship in eastern Germany.
While Sternquell maintains its authentic local identity and continues to brew its beverages in Plauen, it is no longer an independent family-owned entity. Since the 1990s, it has been a part of the Kulmbacher Group. This group, in turn, is controlled by the Brau Holding International, which is a joint venture primarily owned by the Schörghuber Corporate Group and Heineken, though the ultimate strategic management for Sternquell remains within the German-based Kulmbacher structure.
